The decision to use donor eggs in your fertility journey can be difficult, but it's also an exciting and empowering choice. If you got here through infertility, likely your journey thus far has been long and heartbreaking. Donor eggs offer the opportunity to increase your chances of a successful pregnancy.

To help you find strength and positivity, we’ve collected the following uplifting and inspiring affirmations. We hope they help you stay positive, centered, and motivated during this donor egg journey.

What is an affirmation?

An affirmation is a statement or phrase that is repeated to oneself with the intention of instilling a positive belief or attitude. Affirmations are often used as a tool to promote self-confidence and a positive outlook during a specific time in your life. They can be used to help overcome negative self-talk, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve overall well-being. Affirmations can be used in various aspects of life, including relationships, work, health, and fertility.

How can affirmations help?

Affirmations work by training the mind to focus on positive thoughts and beliefs. When repeated regularly, affirmations can help to change negative thought patterns and promote a more positive mindset. By focusing on positive affirmations, one can begin to let go of self-doubt, worry, and fear, and instead embrace self-love, confidence, and hope. Affirmations can also help to reduce stress and anxiety by promoting a sense of calm and inner peace. In the context of fertility and donor eggs, affirmations can be a powerful tool to promote positive thoughts and emotions and help individuals to feel more empowered and in control of their journey.

Donor egg recipient affirmations: how to start

Affirmations can be practiced in several ways, and the key is to find a method that works for you. Here are some general steps you can follow:

  1. Choose your affirmations: Start by selecting a few affirmations that resonate with you. Make sure your affirmations are in the present tense, positive, and specific. Use the examples below to get you started.
  2. Repeat your affirmations: Find a quiet place where you can focus on your affirmations. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to relax. Then, repeat your affirmations to yourself, either silently or out loud. You can also write your affirmations down in a journal or on sticky notes and place them where you can see them throughout the day.
  3. Believe in your affirmations: The most important aspect of affirmations is believing in them. You must truly believe in the affirmations you are repeating. Visualize yourself embodying the qualities you are affirming and feel the positive emotions associated with them.
  4. Practice regularly: Affirmations work best when practiced regularly. Set aside a few minutes each day to practice your affirmations, ideally in the morning or before bed. Over time, you will start to notice a shift in your thoughts and behavior, as your subconscious mind begins to internalize your affirmations.

Egg donation affirmation examples

Not every affirmation will speak to you. Feel free to choose the ones below that resonate, and skip the rest. You can add your own affirmations as well, and recite them every morning.

I am worthy of motherhood, regardless of how my child comes into this world.

This affirmation reminds you that your worth as a mother is not determined by how your child comes into the world. Regardless of whether your child is biologically related to you, you are worthy of motherhood and all the joys and challenges that come with it.

I am grateful for the gift of donor eggs and the opportunity to build my family.

Expressing gratitude can help shift your perspective and focus on the positive aspects of your donor egg journey. Repeat this mantra whenever you feel overwhelmed or unsure.

I trust my body to carry and nourish this child.

It's natural to feel anxious and uncertain during a donor egg journey, but this mantra can help you stay grounded and centered. Trusting your body's ability to carry and nourish your child can help you feel more empowered and confident.

I am strong and resilient, and I will overcome any obstacles on this journey.

Using donor eggs can come with its own set of challenges, but this mantra reminds you that you have the strength and resilience to overcome them. Repeat it to yourself whenever you need a reminder of your own power.

I am capable of creating a loving and nurturing home for my child.

Using donor eggs does not diminish your ability to provide a loving and nurturing home for your child. This affirmation reminds you that you have within you everything you need to be a wonderful parent.

I trust that the universe has a plan for me and my family.

This affirmation can help you let go of any worries or doubts and trust in the journey that you are on. It reminds you that everything happens for a reason, and that there is a plan for you and your family, even if it's not the one you initially envisioned.

I am and will be okay, regardless of the outcome of fertility treatment.

This affirmation can be particularly helpful during the emotional rollercoaster of fertility treatments. It's essential to remember that no matter the outcome, your life will be amazing. Your worth is not determined by the number of children you have. You can and will find a meaningful life regardless of the outcome.

Avoiding toxic positivity

While affirmations can be a helpful tool for managing difficult emotions and promoting positive thinking, they can sometimes be seen as promoting toxic positivity. Toxic positivity is the idea that people should always focus on the positive and ignore any negative emotions or experiences. Affirmations can be seen as promoting this idea if they are used to deny or minimize difficult emotions or experiences, rather than acknowledging and processing them in a healthy way.

Affirmations alone are not enough to manage difficult emotions or experiences. Use affirmations in a balanced and mindful way, acknowledging both positive and negative experiences and emotions. Using affirmations in combination with therapy (1:1 and/or group therapy) is a great way to address the grief that may come along with using donor eggs.

We’re rooting for you

Using affirmations during a donor egg IVF journey can be a powerful tool to promote positive thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Affirmations work by training the mind to focus on positive beliefs and attitudes, helping you let go of self-doubt, worry, and fear and embrace self-love, confidence, and hope.

Affirmations should not be used to deny or minimize difficult emotions or experiences, but instead, they should be used to acknowledge and process them in a healthy way.

We hope you find strength, positivity, and hope during your donor egg IVF journey, and that you’re able to create the family you have always dreamed of.

Wade and the recent Alabama Supreme Court ruling—it’s important to know that other areas of reproductive healthcare, including egg donation and IVF, could also be influenced by election outcomes.
