Note: We recently updated our guarantee (effective August 1, 2025). If you have any questions, please reach out at match@cofertility.com.
When you decide to build your family with donor eggs, you’re forced to contend with a lot of unknowns. You may be asking yourself questions like, “what if she doesn’t pass her screening,” or “what if the cycle doesn’t yield any healthy embryos?”
These concerns are compounded by the fact that any fertility treatment comes with a hefty price tag. We know that IVF and egg donation are huge expenses for families because we’ve been there. While we can’t promise perfection, we have devised the most parent-friendly guarantee on the market. We hope this brings you peace of mind and shows you how committed we are to helping you build your family.
Cofertility’s Embryo Guarantee
While some agencies charge extra for any form of a guarantee, Cofertility’s Embryo Guarantee is built into our pricing. We want to help you build your family, so if the eggs you receive don’t result in our minimum guaranteed embryos, we’ll rematch you for free.
What does this mean?
If your donor doesn’t clear genetic screening—we’ll rematch you. If your donor isn’t medically approved by your physician—we’ll rematch you. If you fall short of the guaranteed number of embryos—we’ll rematch you.
In short, if anything outside your control prevents you from reaching the minimum number of embryos you’re guaranteed, we’ll re-match you for free — up to three total matches.
How our guarantee applies to fresh egg donation
When you match with a donor in our fresh egg donation program, you’ll sign a formal agreement with Cofertility and pay the Cofertility Coordination Fee. This fee is backed by our Embryo Guarantee, which ensures you’ll receive at least two blastocyst-stage embryos across a maximum of three total retrievals.
The guarantee is detailed in your agreement and covers the following scenarios:
- The donor does not pass her initial screening
- The retrieval is canceled or yields no mature eggs
- The cycle results in fewer than two blastocyst-stage embryos
If you’re eligible for a rematch, you’ll be responsible for the clinic and third-party expenses related to your new donor’s screening and retrieval, but Cofertility’s fees will be waived.
Please note that outcomes related to embryo transfer, testing (e.g., PGT), or pregnancy are not covered.
Why we don’t guarantee a number of eggs in fresh donation
Cofertility’s egg sharing model enables women to freeze their own eggs at no cost by donating half of what they retrieve to your family. This model eliminates donor cash compensation and offers a more collaborative, empathy-driven experience.
Traditional guarantee programs in fresh donation are rare, and when they exist, they’re typically priced as premium packages.
We know that every intended parent’s goals are different. One retrieval may be enough to build your family, or you may want the option to do another cycle with the same or a new donor. That’s why our guarantee focuses on embryos, which are ultimately what we hope will lead to a healthy baby, not a fixed egg count.
How our guarantee applies to frozen egg donation
When you match with a donor in our frozen egg donation program, you’ll be covered under our Embryo Guarantee, which ensures that you’ll receive a certain number of usable blastocyst-stage embryos in line with the number of eggs that you received as part of your original match:
- 6–9 eggs in your initial match: 1 embryo guaranteed
- 10–15 eggs in your initial match: 2 embryos guaranteed
- 16–21 eggs in your initial match: 3 embryos guaranteed
- 22+ eggs in your initial match: 4 embryos guaranteed
If you end up with fewer embryos than what you were guaranteed, we’ll rematch you with a new donor, either with a full or partial cohort of eggs, at no additional cost.
Summing up our commitment to you
Building your family through donor eggs should be a beautiful experience, but that doesn’t mean that it will come without stressors. While we can’t control every outcome, we’ve worked hard to ensure that our guarantee protects you through every twist and turn. If you have any questions about our pricing or guarantee, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
