At Cofertility, our team makes all the difference in how we support our members. Each month, we'll introduce you to one of the dedicated people working behind the scenes to make your experience better.
This month, we're sitting down with Jennifer Chang, our Program Lead for our Frozen Donation team. Jen has been helping families navigate their family-building journeys for years and is passionate about making the process feel as smooth and supportive as possible. She loves guiding intended parents through every step, bringing empathy and a personal touch to each experience.
Let's get to know Jen better:
Q: What drew you to working at Cofertility?
I was drawn to Cofertility’s thoughtful approach and model. Coming from a background in traditional, cash-compensation egg donation (and surrogacy), I saw how the process could sometimes feel transactional. What I love about Cofertility is that the team puts empathy and transparency first, supporting both donors and intended parents in a way that feels more human-centered.
Q: Can you walk us through what a typical day looks like for you?
Every day looks a little different, but it always starts with coffee and breakfast. I’m in a moka pot phase right now and love the ritual of brewing it on the stovetop. Breakfast is usually some variation of toast with butter and jam - I’ve got quite the jam collection, but raspberry tends to win most mornings.
Once I’m caffeinated, I’m able to turn my focus towards supporting our members. That might mean hopping on calls with intended parents to guide them through their journey, playing a “matchmaker” role with unmatched IPs, or coordinating next steps with a clinic. Behind the scenes, I might be updating website copy to reflect any updates to our programs, or meeting with our frozen program pod to brainstorm ways we can improve the experience for everyone involved.
Q: What's the most rewarding part of supporting members through their family-building process?
The most rewarding part of my job is being trusted with something so personal and meaningful. Hearing an intended parent describe how much they connected with their egg donor or receiving a pregnancy/birth update is always an amazing feeling, and never gets old. It’s such a privilege to be a part of someone’s family-building journey.
Q: How do you approach supporting members who might be feeling anxious or uncertain?
I like to think of my approach as both proactive and empathetic. I always take the time to listen and answer questions honestly. I also draw on my experiences and the knowledge I've gained working with other families to offer insight and guidance. My goal is to help our members feel more confident in the choices they’re making and reassure them that they’re not alone in this journey.
Q: What's one thing you wish more people knew about egg donation?
I wish more people knew just how thoughtful and intentional egg donors are. I think there is a common misconception that it's purely transactional, but in reality, the donors we work with are incredibly motivated by the idea of helping someone else grow their family. It's such a generous, meaningful choice.
Q: If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting their family-building process, what would it be?
This is such a personal journey, and there’s no “one right way” to do it. Surround yourself with people who support you, and don’t be afraid to lean on your MA - we’re here to support you, and even if we don’t always have the answers, we will help you figure it out! I truly believe you’ll end up with the baby (or babies) you are meant to have, even if the path looks different than you imagined.
Q: Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
I live for delicious food and wine, and I love traveling to explore new places for both! The cities I find myself returning to over and over again include Copenhagen, Paris, and Seoul. I wouldn’t consider myself a sporty person, and my active hobbies are quite seasonal - when weather and/or scheduling permits, I love skiing and playing tennis. I also enjoy spending time with my angel prince pup, Arty.
Q: How do you practice self-care while supporting members through emotional moments?
Supporting members in their family-building journey is deeply rewarding, but also emotionally intense at times. I enjoy having something planned to look forward to—whether it’s a trip, a concert, a dinner with friends, or even a day with no plans so that I can be a potato. I try to stay grateful and positive, and I feel very lucky to have a supportive team. Being able to chat through problems or just talk things out helps me reset and stay focused.
Q: What's one of your proudest moments as a Member Advocate?
I feel extra proud of the work I do when families stay in touch beyond the immediate journey. When they continue to send pregnancy updates or share the joy of their baby’s arrival, it reminds me just how impactful this work is. It’s always so rewarding to see how far they’ve come, knowing I was able to support them through such an important chapter of their lives.
