Fresh egg donation with Cofertility
Pre-qualified donors complete their screening and retrieval after you match. This gives you the flexibility to have your preferred clinic oversee the cycle, the opportunity to meet your donor before screening, and the advantage of creating embryos immediately from fresh eggs.

Benefits of fresh egg donation
Whether fresh or frozen egg donation is right for you will depend on your goals and preferences. Here are some of the key reasons intended parents choose fresh egg donation with Cofertility:
Local cycles and continuity of care
Working with a donor in our fresh program allows for the opportunity to have the donor cycle at your clinic, overseen by your doctor. If you’ve already established a great relationship with your doctor and their team, this can ensure continuity throughout the entire process.
A chance to meet your donor before screening
While both programs allow you to meet your donor (and both allow for disclosed or undisclosed donations), with fresh egg donation, you can meet with the donor before they begin their screening and completing their retrieval cycle.
Fresh embryo creation
One of the biggest advantages of fresh donation is the ability to create embryos immediately after retrieval. Working with fresh eggs means they can be fertilized without needing to be thawed, which may increase the chance of creating more healthy embryos.
Finding the right donor
Ultimately, the most important thing is that you feel great about the donor who you match with. If you’re open to either fresh or frozen egg donation, the right match may ultimately guide which program you pursue.

Pricing and guarantee
- Intended parents are guaranteed at least two blastocyst-stage embryos.
- If anything outside of your control prevents you from reaching this, we will rematch you at no additional Cofertility Coordination Fee until that minimum is met, up to three total matches.

Frequently asked questions
What kind of screening do donors in the fresh egg donation program complete?
Every Cofertility donor goes through an initial round of screening before being listed on our platform. This includes:
- Confirming the donor is 21–33 years old (per ASRM guidelines)
- Reviewing the donor’s medical, mental health, reproductive, and lifestyle history
- Reviewing the donor’s biological family’s medical history for genetic risks and conditions
- Collecting and reviewing any prior donation history and outcomes
- Testing AMH levels (all donors must have 2.0 ng/ml or higher)
Once you’ve matched with a donor in our fresh egg donation program, they will complete additional screening:
- Genetic carrier screening
- Antral follicle count (AFC) assessment
- General health exam
- Psychological evaluation
With your doctor’s approval, you’ll then move forward to the legal stage and egg retrieval.
How many eggs will I get with a fresh cycle?
At Cofertility, we exclusively work under the egg-sharing model. Rather than cash compensation, our donors keep half of the eggs retrieved and donate the other half to your family. We implement meticulous testing and medical screening to ensure donors have a high likelihood of success. The number of eggs retrieved varies by patient and cycle, but can be predicted by a donor’s age, AMH, and antral follicle count, all of which will be known to you after the donor’s initial screening.
For those who match with a donor undergoing a fresh donation cycle, the average number of mature eggs a family receives and fertilizes is 12*.

*Note: this number is updated periodically based on cycle outcomes.
Can I do a second cycle with the same donor?
Depending on your and the donor’s family-building goals, you may decide to complete two cycles together. This can be decided upfront or once you’ve seen the outcomes from the first cycle.
If both parties agree to complete a second cycle, you’ll pay a reduced coordination fee of $5,000. While you won’t need to pay for most of the screening expenses a second time, you will be responsible for covering fees related to the donor’s medications, retrieval cycle, and shipping their portion of eggs to their existing storage facility.
How long does matching with a donor in the fresh egg donation program take?
The matching process can take as little or as much time as you need – some intended parents find a match immediately while others spend more time on the platform.
Once you match with a donor in our fresh egg donation program, the process from match to cycle is typically 3-5 months. As soon as the mutual match is confirmed, we can begin the process of scheduling their screening and testing with your clinic.
